The golf course awaits. Time to get those irons polished up and ready to “Swing”!
It is the “Merry Month of May” where warm breezes blow and the sunny days call you to come out and renew your spirit. Mother’s Day is May 14, a day to honor all mothers and show your Mom you love her. Just in case you haven’t said it recently, “I love you Mom” will make her day.
Each month of the year seems to have a theme and May is “National Military Appreciation” month. While enjoying the Memorial Day weekend, traveling, opening the cottage and relaxing, take some time to reflect on why there is a Memorial Day. Say “Thank you” to the servicemen and women presently serving our country all over the world. Remember with thanks those who have served in the past, and give thanks especially for those veterans who gave their lives to preserve the freedom we have to pursue our goals. “America, the land of the free and the brave.” Believe it.

While writing this column and referencing Islandfest, a bit of nostalgia crept in, remembering how it all began with the walkable, friendly ambiance of the Azalea Festival on Macomb Street. Times change but memories remain. Islandfest is now the Grand Event! Come join in the fun.
Happy Mother’s Day, moms! Proudly display the stars and stripes on Memorial Day.
